Use the intelligence the task needs

Think about models, execution and operating costs as separate parts of an AI workflow.

Separate reasoning from execution

A workflow can involve reading, extracting, comparing, deciding and changing a system. These operations do not necessarily need the same model or service. Identify where stronger reasoning changes the result, and where a supported deterministic or local operation is sufficient.

Count the complete cost

Model usage is only one part of the operating cost. Include device resources, hosting, integration, monitoring, exception review and maintenance. An architecture described as local or open does not make those costs disappear. Conversely, a managed service may include work an operator would otherwise need to perform.

Evaluate, do not assume savings

Compare representative tasks on the intended deployment. Record completion quality, latency, resource use and human intervention, not only a token bill. Laryaa’s model-selection direction is to use appropriate approved intelligence for the task. This is not a published cost benchmark or a guarantee of savings.
